Figure out who your target audience is and what their daily schedules are like. Maybe most of your customers will come from the same country your business is centered in, but then again there are some businesses where their main customers are on the other side of the world. You want to send out emails during the daytime for the recipients because sending an email in the middle of the night is less likely to be noticed. If possible, you also want to figure out at what specific times people are more likely to look at their emails. Around lunch or dinner times could be a pretty good bet.
Some spam filters on email accounts sense trigger words in email subject lines that indicate a spam email. These emails that are indicated as spam are sent to the spam folder likely never to be seen again. For this reason you should make sure to not try to make a subject line sound too appealing. Another common spam filter is if your subject line is full of capital letters. Think about emails you receive from reputable businesses and chances are that none of these business have subjects that are all caps so you shouldn’t do it either.
Sometimes people will not be able to see any information in your email because the images will not load for them. To compensate for this, make sure your email is not solely dependent on images. Your emails should also include live text so that the recipient can get a general idea of what your email is about even if the images are not working for some reason. The result would be a more bare bones email, but it would be better than nothing.
Your email should give the customer a reason to come to your website. Emails should not be a substitute for your website. Do not make an email too long to the point where it feels less like an email and more like a blog post you should put up on your website. Keep emails precise and convincing. Sometimes a phrase like “and many more items on sale” would get customers interested in what you have to offer than just sending an email that lists out every single thing you are offering for sale.
In order to keep a good relationship between you can the customer, make sure you give them the opportunity to unsubscribe from your mailing list. They may still want to do business with you in the future even though they are unsubscribing, so treat them with some respect.
Your email marketing will be stronger if you make sure to avoid the problems outlined in this article. Plan out your email marketing campaign beforehand and make adjustments as you go along.
